The Acorn Inn, situated in Burncross, a very busy well presented Greene King pub and restaurant. Mine hosts Nigel and Elaine always have a very warm welcome serving good food and excellent beer, having recently been awarded a 4 star food hygiene certificate, a Cool Cellar award and 100% in Greene King's Excellence every time award.

You will find Live entertainment every Wednesday and Sunday at 9pm check out the events page for details, also every Tuesday is "Ruby Tuesday" with a curry and a drink for £4.95 followed by a quiz with cash and other prizes.
Food is served 12 - 2.30 then 5.30 - 8.30 Monday to Friday
and 12 - 8 Saturday and Sunday

With a large screen TV showing some live sports and AWP and quiz machines there is something for most people at The Acorn

The pub also plays host to the Acorn golf society which holds a meeting on the first Friday of the month with new members always welcome, they have regular golf days out. They also have an over 35's Football team which is always on the look out for new players as well

Also hosting the annual "Acorn Amble" a charity walk where walkers are collected early in the morning and taken to Castleton where they are left to make their own way back 28 miles to the Acorn via various ports of call, The weary walkers get back to the Acorn Inn early in the evening for a well-earned drink, before a raffle is held to raise even more money. In 2006 the "amblers" raised a wonderful £10,000 for charity.
