BLITZ was formed in late 2003, when drummer Ian Sharp got together with guitarist and good friend Steve Smith. Ian was after getting a band together again after a few years lay off from playing, the last band being Graffiti and the TSB band. Steve had been in many bands, including Graffiti, and had recently left Katch 22, along with bassist Karl Impey, who also got together with Ian and Steve. In November 2003, after trying out a couple of singers, Karl asked workmate Paul Tomlinson to come out of karaokes and sing with the band. All four members gelled straight away and started rehearsing once a week in a small office just off London Rd, Sheffield.

Christmas passed, a couple of rehearsal rooms later and a few appearances at the Sunday Jam Sessions in the Woodseats Hotel and Blitz settled in a rehearsal room above the Cricketers Arms, Bramhall Ln, Sheffield, where they quickly put together enough songs for two 45 minute sets. The first gig was on March 14th 2004 in the Birley Hotel, Sheffield, which went down very well with some great feedback from the audience after. BLITZ went on to do over 60 gigs in 2004 with a regular monthly slot at the Classic Rock Bar, Sheffield. Other highlights for the year were, playing an outdoor gig at the Steel City Cruisers Custom Car Show in Brinsworth, playing for the NABD Bikers charity event at the Silver Fox, Stocksbridge and the New Years Gig at the Classic Rock Bar, Sheffield.

2005 came and in January Karl decided he had had enough and announced that he was quitting the band. The search was on for a new bassist and in came Scott Jordan. Scott came to see BLITZ play at the White Lion, Heeley and decided he wanted to join the band straight away. After only about 3 rehearsals, Scott was thrown in at the deep end and played his first gig for Blitz at the Tut N Shive, Wakefield on 12th March '05. He fitted in well and has grown to be an excellent member of the band. Karl played his farewell gig at The Woodseats Hotel on 23rd Feb '05.
