Firecracker @ The Royal Oak, 17/05 17 May 2008 21:00 Royal Oak, Brampton Formed at the end of 2001, Sheffield born James Scanlan, previously of local indie popsters 'Mantra' formed an acoustic duo with Firminger, previously with a host of local bands including metal act 'HeadVice'. Playing in and around the city at various venues, some good some best forgotten. They play a mixture of reworked standards and contemporary tunes in return for ale and pound sterling !!! A few gigs down the line, chris introduced Baker into the line up, also a musician with the 'Dave Berry Band'. More gigs are booked with temporary drummers, until Broughton, completed the Firecracker line up.

Rio 5 @ The Royal Oak 21/05 21 May 2008 21:00 Royal Oak, Brampton Rio 5 were formed in 1979 and had a successful playing career around the pubs and clubs of the east midlands. The band went their separate ways in the early 80's. In 2006 guitarist Ian Palfreyman contacted front man Dave Stone with a view to resurrecting the band. Rio 5 is now born again with a new line up but with the same magic formula. Playing popular music from the 50's right through to the present day, songs from artists such as The Bee Gees, Free, Wilson Pickett, The Jam, Joe Cocker and many more.
