JBlack
The music of JBlack was born in the sixties, through an early baptism at the age of 13 playing keyboards with bands in the working men’s clubs of the north east of England.
From early influences of Chuck Berry, The Animals, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, his musical form grew and settled in the music from America epitomised by Bob Dylan, The Band, Little Feat, The Allman Brothers and significantly Steely Dan.
This was fashioned by working with a number of bands in different parts of the country, including ‘The Astronauts’ and ‘Felix Welk’ in the North East; ‘Truth’ in the East Midlands, ‘Exium’ in London, ‘The Gold Band’ on the south coast and ‘Jade’ in Yorkshire.
His interest in Jazz has also recently developed, and JBlack performs a varied repertoire which has led to him being the featured pianist on the web site of the Jazz Resteraunt, The Walnut Club in Hathersage(
http://www.thewalnutclub.com/music.html
).
He has written consistently alongside his live work, involving theme music as well as songs (including the music for the play “The Green Leaves of Nottingham”), and is currently in big demand for keyboard session work.
He is currently working with the following:
Real Diamond – UK’s No. 1 Neil Diamond Tribute (

)
Dave Berry and the Cruisers R&B, with many hits from the 60’s (

)
JBlack - Solo Piano/Keyboards/Vocals(

DSD (Drive South Duo) - Female singer & keyboards – Jazz, Soul and Pop.
Drive South Band - Function/PartyRock Band (songs from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s)
The JBlack solo show includes covers of his favourite artists as well as original work.
