Joel has a fine musical heritage, His Father Frank being a noted guitarist on the 60's R&B Scene.

His cousin Richard Hawley is currently enjoying commercial success.

From a young age Joel studied Piano and grew up listening to all kinds of music, particularly Jazz, Soul and rock/pop!!

This led to him playing keyboards for a number of artists who have had major success such as Finley Quaye & Pulp, the highlights of which were touring Europe and America, appearing on 'LATER WITH JOOLS HOLLAND' and playing major festivals around the globe including Glastonbury and T in the Park.

In between this work Joel has continued to work in the fields of Jazz, Soul, Rock/Pop which has influenced his work now as a solo artist, or with his Trio/band
