"It was twenty years ago today ... If you recognise these words from a famous song then you are probably young enough to enjoy the music played by RODGER.
RODGER is a band that played its last gig about twenty years ago. Before the parting of the ways RODGER was well known on the gig circuit of pubs, clubs and colleges (and even BBC radio). RODGER was made up of four young lads striving to achieve national status and recording fame with their self-penned original numbers. 'At The Broadfield', was a Sheffield residency that was to last several months, and earned RODGER a good reputation and a following that turned up week in week out to see and hear them perform. Unfortunately, the mood of the record companies was changing and A & R men were into the new music of punk and so sadly RODGER was dismembered.
Over the intervening years, the 'lads went their seperate ways to seek fame and fortune as individual musicians (and drummer). Busking in Fargate being the best anyone could achieve, they returned to the warmth and comfort of their respective careers and satisfied their musical needs by playing in numerous local bands, The Frank White Band, Micky's Monkeys, Green Sleeper, Shape of the Rain and Ebony Moonbeam to name just one.
We can rebuild him .....
If you recognise these words from a famous T.V. program then you are probably still young enough to enjoy the music now played by RODGER.
..... one day, two of the original members met by accident and from this conversation a spark re-ignited the flames and so the fire was re-kindled and from the ashes.... oh! cut the crap, what we are trying to say is we are back together.
RODGER reformed as 4 piece band consisting of three of the four original members, but the line up of two guitars, bass and drums limited the choice of material they could choose to play. A similarly experienced and creative fifth member was recruited and with four vocalists and keyboards in the band they are now able to re-create live the songs of others they admire such as Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and many more popular acts both past and present.
In a short period of time RODGER has managed to re-establish itself in the Sheffield pub circuit as a band consistently reliable for 'delivering the goods'. 'The goods'are constantly reviewed (with the help of feedback from audiences) and the material regularly updated to include some of the best from what is known as Classic Rock. A recent review of a gig at Ihe Woodseats Hotel in the Sheffield paper The Mercury stated '...a five piece band who do more than justify the adage of pure musical talent'."
